Lagos-based alt-artist Lady Donli releases her dual singles, ‘Rockstar Parole’ via Platoon. ‘Rockstar’ was produced by The Cavemen & ‘Parole’ by JMS.
“’Rockstar Parole’ pays homage to the story telling found in Nigerian music in the early 2000s.” she says, “Rockstar particularly can be compared to Tony Tetuila’s hit single “My Car” in the way the lyrics paint a clear picture of a story.”
The tracks are accompanied with a video shot by Lester Millando.
‘Rockstar Parole’ follows her previous single ‘Wonda Wonda’ featuring Ghanaian artist Darkovibes, released earlier this year.
Lady Donli released her debut album “Enjoy Your Life” last year, which included the singles Cash, SUFFER SUFFER and Corner ft. VanJess and The Cavemen, additional collaborations on the record included Tems, Amaraae and BenjiFlow amongst others.
The genre-defying album, which blended R&B, afrobeat, high-life and jazz cemented her as an important voice from the alte-music scene and shone a light on Nigeria’s rich culture and history.
