It has been a great year for Kanye fans, with his two full-length albums ye and KIDS SEE GHOSTS released this summer, and his collaboration with Lil Pump on ‘I Love It’ released this September. But just in case you hadn’t had quite enough Kanye for one year, his latest anticipated album YANDHI is set to release on November 23, otherwise known as Black Friday. The project’s name is a portmanteau of “Ye” and “Gandhi” (the same as YEEZUS was of “Ye” and “Jesus”) hinting that it is a follow-up to his game changing 2013 record. This is confirmed by the artwork for YANDHI, featuring a similar stripped-back, minimalist style to that of YEEZUS, emulating a transparent case for a MiniDisc.
Rumours of YANDHI began to surface when Kanye dropped a series of cryptic tweets that hinted at a new album. And thanks to his wife, Kim Kardashian West’s tweet, the release date has been confirmed for Black Friday.
Talking about the release of YANDHI, West stated: “I started incorporating sounds that you never heard before and pushing and having concepts that people don’t talk about.” This may be partly due to the confirmation of the inclusion of 6ix9ine and XXXTentacion on the record, which has attracted widespread criticism due to 6ix9ine’s previous guilty pleas to sexual abuse and XXXTentacion’s widely-reported domestic battery allegations.
Yet despite this , YANDHI is set to be a fierce addition to his year of releases, and I can not wait.
