Manchester based bedroom pop singer-songwriter and producer Manta has announced the release of his debut single Dream World out now through Someone Great/PIAS.
Manta is a DIY artist, who creates all of his experimental production, astute writing and stylistic visuals himself from his Manchester bedroom. Fusing genres such as hip-hop and pop and with influences ranging from Kenny Beats, Dominic Fike and Easy Life, Manta’s lyrics address relatable modern day issues, drawing you into the world he has created within his sound. With neon hair, a sharp style and a charismatic personality, Manta is as distinctive as his musical flair.
Dream World is the first introduction to Manta and is the perfect taster to his unique alternative dream pop sound. Already receiving support from BBC Introducing Manchester, it’s lo-fi melody and charismatic lyrics are accompanied by mesmerising red-tinged visuals, which were homemade in his bedroom. He says;
“I wrote dream world to show how stuck I felt when studying architecture; I had bigger dreams and aspirations than to be stuck in an office all day. I wanted to produce, play shows, and start releasing music, but I felt confined to a life I was not passionate about. My music is a big cooking pot full of everything I am into.”
Look out for more from Manta this year; Dream World is just the beginning of an exciting name to watch.
