British breakthrough artist, Wes Nelson releases his most honest and raw material to date in the form of an infectious two track single entitled, ‘3 Words (Message To My Ex) / Message From My Ex’. Taking us on an emotionally charged journey through heartbreak, the tracks act as a consoling warm blanket for anyone who has ever been there.
With silky smooth vocals, a catchy hook, and a hypnotic chorus, ‘3 Words (Message To My Ex) sees Wes fueled by anger and grief, reminiscing over lost precious moments and reflecting on lost love. On the flip side, ‘Message From My Ex’ dives in with tongue-in-cheek lyrics, delivering melodic bars over skittish beats, Wes no longer feeling spiteful and heartbroken but hopeful, free and on the other side. Wes says, “Each lyric in the two tracks is so personal to me, which made writing them effortless – but I feel anyone who’s been through heartbreak can relate. ‘3 Words’ reflects the post-breakup healing process and explores the idea that losing someone isn’t always ‘a loss’.
“I wrote Message From My Ex in a completely different frame of mind, where I’d fully healed, realised my worth, and found it comical that my exes come running back. It’s one of my close friends’ favourite and was built around the conversations we’d had.”
Having kicked off the year firmly in the Top 20 with his collaboration with Clean Bandit on ‘Drive’, Wes spent much of 2022 honing his live show, playing over 100 shows to date up and down the UK. He also drew a huge crowd at the 1Xtra stage at Reading and Leeds, where he debuted both these new tracks to a rapturous reception. This month Wes hit the road with N-Dubz, supporting them on 17 of their UK shows, including The O2 London and Birmingham’s Utilita Arena.
Wes’s ambition to succeed has earned him over 1.2 billion streams worldwide across three singles with hits in over 10 countries across the globe. A former undefeated champion Muay Thai kickboxer, semi-professional footballer and Nuclear System Design Engineer, Wes has many talents, but music continues to be his first love. An artist truly in his own lane, Wes has won the respect of the artist fraternity, having collaborated with Hardy Caprio, Yxng Bane, Clean Bandit and Topic as well as receiving co-signs from the likes of Chip, Krept & Konan, Tion Wayne, Adekunle Gold, Headie One, Lewis Capaldi, Liam Payne and many more.
