JORDS DROPS THE VIDEO FOR HIS RECENT TRACK ‘ENEMIES’, FEATURING MASEGO AND KADIATA

Celebrating Black culture in full technicolour is vital to Jords’ artistry, and this shines through in the video for ‘Enemies’, which feels like a toast to music, friendship and beauty. Featuring cameos from his two collaborators Masego and Kadiata, the video was directed by Edem Wornoo (Dave, Fredo, etc) and conceptualised by Curtis Essel of 33Bound, who previously worked with Jords on the Almost An Adult and Black & Ready’ video projects.

The track is a blend of Jords’ love of funky house, Kaytranada and old school DJ sets, tapping into his own nostalgic sentiments: “I really want people to travel through time with my music,” Jords shares. Enemies is made to blast from sound systems and it’s a small taster for what’s coming this year.

The feeling of celebration continues with the release of the second part of his COLORS session ‘Enemies + AAA Medley’, which dropped recently. The session features a powerful, stripped back version of ‘Enemies’, as well as a medley of tracks from his 2020 film project ‘Almost An Adult’. “With it coming up to a year since we released the ‘Almost An Adult’ film, I think it was only right that myself and the band paid homage to that by creating this medley + my latest song ‘Enemies” Jords explains.

Jords is known for his smooth hybrid of hip-hop, R&B and poetry with thought-provoking concepts. His last project ‘Almost An Adult’, an intensely personal project, was an exploration of his own roots in Jamaica, his connection to his grandparents and his heritage. The album was released alongside a short film featuring 4 tracks from the project. Shot by Curtis Essel & Nwabugo, between Kingston, Jamaica and London, the arresting visual discusses issues of masculinity, faith, bereavement, love, family, race and unity. You can watch the visual here.

His ability to captivate an audience with his impressive wordplay has seen Jords to collaborate with many acclaimed artists (including Bridget Kelly, Randy Valentine, Kida Kudz, Thea Gajic, Jaz Karis, Sonna Rele, Maxi Priest, and more) both as performer and producer, steadily building a portfolio of compelling music with a deeper message. Tracking from his first release in 2016 to the tender 2020 project ‘Almost An Adult’ all the way through to what he’s making now, growth and exploration are at the very heart of Jords’ music. During this journey he’s gained support from Annie Mac, DJ Target, Mistajam, Mim Shaikh, Yasmin Evans, Twin B, Julie Adenuga, Dotty and widespread praise from press: NME.COM (with a brilliant live session), CLASHComplex UKDummy MagNew WaveNation of BillionsTRENCH, GRM DailyLink UpMixtape MadnessGUAP and many more.

Following up a sold out show in Notting Hills Arts Club and a performance at Ends Festival, Jords is back this year for a headline show at Colours Hoxton in October 26th.  With new music on the way 2021 is sure to be a momentous year for Jords!
