More Than Records — It’s a Real-Time Journey: Lasko Bills on Atlanta, Emotion & Chasing Something Bigger

For Lasko Bills, music isn’t something forced — it’s something felt. Influenced heavily by the culture and people of Atlanta, Lasko’s music reflects ambition, honesty, emotional depth, and the pressure of chasing something that may never fully be reached. Through raw storytelling and instinctive creativity, he’s documenting his journey exactly as it happens.

What part of your life do you think people hear the most in your music, even if you never directly say it?

People mostly hear the part of my life where I was in Atlanta and the different things I was into during that time. The next things they hear will be more current parts of my life.

When people hear your name for the first time, what do you want them to associate you with besides music?

Honestly, I want them to see a fun and honest person… but I also don’t care for real. I just be me.

What environment or experience shaped your sound the most?

The whole city of Atlanta shaped me as both a person and an artist. Mostly the people and the culture of the city.

A lot of artists rap about where they’re from. What does your story say about where you’re going?

If you paying attention, my story says I’m striving for something I may never fully reach — but stopping would be worse than failing. Y’all are watching the story play out in real time, and you’ll see how it ends in real time too.

What’s something about your creative process that would surprise people?

I don’t make music all the time. When inspiration hits, I take advantage of it and record a lot during that window — whether it lasts a few hours or a month. But once it’s gone, it’s gone. I can’t force it.

Do you feel like your music is more about self-expression, escaping something, or building something bigger?

Definitely escaping, building, and self-expression.

What’s one lesson life taught you early that still shows up in your music?

Nobody cares. You either figure it out or lose. Nobody obligated to help you. And no matter what, things could always be worse.

How do you balance relatability while still telling your own truth?

I don’t really think about it like that. I just do what feels right and let the music do what it does. Most of the time it’s my personal truth — it just happens to be relatable too.

What motivates you the most right now?

The love of music. Without it, I’m not doing this. Honestly, I don’t even know who I’d be without music.

When somebody finishes listening to your music, what feeling do you hope stays with them?

Something real. I don’t just want people saying, “That was a good song.” I want them to actually feel whatever emotion I put into it.

Lasko Bills creates music that feels unfiltered and alive. Inspired by Atlanta culture, personal experiences, and emotional honesty, his artistry captures the uncertainty, hunger, and humanity of someone still chasing purpose in real time. Whether the records feel reflective, raw, or motivational, one thing remains clear — Lasko wants listeners to feel every word.
